Gurgaon, VIBGYOR High, Gurgaon, proudly hosted the esteemed Haryana State Chess Championship 2024-2025, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and fostering holistic development among young minds.

The championship, organised for various age categories including U-7, U-11, U-15, as well as Senior Girls & Open Categories, took place from 26th-30th May 2024. VIBGYOR High collaborated with the Haryana Chess Association, Gurgaon to bring forth this esteemed event, showcasing the sharp intellect, strategic prowess, and sportsmanship of young chess enthusiasts from across the state. The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Mr. Govind, President of RWA Ansal Essencia, Mr. Radhakrishan Nambardar of Ramgarh, and Mr. Vikram Singh, President of Central Park.

It witnessed participants from different age groups and backgrounds who demonstrated their mastery over the chessboard, competing for top honours and recognition. Nimay Agrawal, a Grade 9 student of VIBGYOR High, was felicitated for his remarkable achievement as the youngest ever Candidate Master of Haryana. He further distinguished himself by winning the trophy for the best player in the tournament. Adding to the celebration, Navya Agarwal, a Grade 2 student of VIBGYOR High, triumphed in the U-15 Girls Championship, securing the trophy for the best girl player. This double victory marks a significant honour for VIBGYOR High, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of its students in sports.

Among the winners were Vardan Gill from U-7 Boys, Akshadha Goyal from U-7 Girls, Advil Singh Chauhan from U-11 Boys, Aahna Gulati from U-11 Girls, Nirnay Garg from U-15 Boys, Siya Kaushik from U-15 Girls, Arshpreet Singh from Senior Open and Radhika Sharma from Senior Women. Each winner was felicitated with a medal and a cash prize of INR 4,000.

In a heartfelt note on the significance of hosting such events, Mrs. Kavita Kerawalla, Vice-Chairperson, VIBGYOR Group of Schools remarked, “It is a privilege for VIBGYOR to host the Haryana State Chess Championship 2024-2025. The proceedings took place at the state-of-the-art campus of VIBGYOR High, Gurgaon School, providing the conducive environment for participants to showcase their talent and compete at their best. The championship served as a testament to VIBGYOR’s commitment to promoting sports and holistic development, in alignment with its ethos of fostering all-rounded individuals.
